Wow'ed by Post 8
I guess WOW is a good term to use on how Post 8 turned things around Tuesday night. After Saturday's losses to Dickinson in which nothing went right, everything fell into place last night in the Mitchell sweep. Kyle Cichos was as dominate a pitcher against a good hitting team as I have seen in a while. Reminded me of Michael Gardner's no hitter two years ago against Rapid City Post 320. Jason Livermont is hitting and playing defense at shortstop that is leading by example and I think Ryan Yackley, Adam Deneke and Scott Cichos will fit right in. Coach Sullivan certainly pulled the right strings last night. And Nolan Merrill is playing as good a center field as any one. He is playing like he has played there all his life. Maybe he has so far!!! But judging by last night's scores, there is no guarantee Pierre will get to the state tournament. Not yet anyway. Out west, Post 320 after putting a 20 plus spot on the board against Yankton on Sunday loses twice to Sturgis at home! And Post 22 splits with Spearfish! Win on the 15 run rule in the first game and then lose 4-3 in the second game. And it was the Post 22 varsity both games. None of this, Split Squad (oh excuse me, Expos) first game and varsity the second. It was the Post 22 varsity both games. Pierre, Spearfish, Sturgis, Post 320. Only 2 will get to go to the state tournament. Maybe it is a good thing Post 22 is hosting the state tournament and are already in!

Brett Favre saga
The saga of Brett Favre continued last night on HBO of all places on Joe Buck Live. (By the way Joe, don't give up your Sunday job, especially if your going to have comedians who claim to fame is being on the Howard Stern Show) If you didn't see it, Favre bascially said if his shoulder is ok, he will play for the Vikings but won't know yet for a few weeks. I am a Bears fan, so at least twice a year, Brett Favre was the bad guy. He is a good guy really, but unless he is the qb of the Bears, on the field, he is the enemy. I missed that last year since he played for the Jets. So if the shoulder is fine and he does play, the best sight of Favre for me will be on his back after getting sacked by Brian Urhlacher on a blitz. If the shoulder doesn't come around, I look forward to his Hall of Fame saga. You know, he really is pretty good. By the way, Post 8 baseball coach Bob Sullivan will have 3 new players in uniform tonight. The coach is promoting Ryan Yackley, Adam Deneke and Scott Cichos to the Post 8 varsity from the "A" Teeners / Split Squad. The beauty of that, is that they can play for both the varsity and the split squad, when and where needed. And right now, the Post 8 varsity needs to get some pitching depth. All 3 can help do that, hopefully. I'll be on the air on RIVER 92.7 for game 1 at 5:30 p.m.

Post 8 Legion Baseball
It was a tough weekend for Post 8's Legion baseball team. It's been awhile since they have been beaten on the 10 run rule, let alone 3 times in the last 4 games. Granted, Dickinson is a good team and hit the ball well. They really strutted their stuff on the field (in other words, they know they are pretty good). Frenzel is not a bad player but I think he'd better go to Arizona and play for a year or two. He could increase his stock and get drafted higher than 1440th something. But tomorrow is a new day and Pierre gets to play Mitchell. Should be a good test and Kyle Cichos will be on the mound in one of the games. Good pitcher, good hitting team. Might be worth coming to Hyde to see. And coach Sullivan is making some moves on the roster along with getting a new kid in that moved here from Montana. We will see how everything plays out .
